22 January 2024
New year, new luck, new habits. We watched a bunch of motivational videos in which they advised us to, for example, buy a new notebook and write down all the desired goals for the new year in it. Many of us wrote down “To exercise regularly”. And we started with a bang, back in January!
The fact that active sports people dramatically increase in January, you probably feel when you have to wait for your favorite device. To be completely accurate, the team and I dug into the database and, unsurprisingly, found that fitness enthusiasts in January 2023 were about 33% more active, compared to December 2022. Great!
After that? The results don’t come quickly, it’s cold outside, and you’re tired after work… Excuses are endless!
It has been proven that the human brain loves routine and peace, and it will try in every way to sabotage you in its quest to return to the old familiar habits that it is already used to. We will help you in this battle!
We have prepared some tips for you, with the help of which visits to the gym will not be on your wish list next year, because… they will already be part of your weekly routine.
What motivates you to exercise? Find your reasons and write them down somewhere you can refer to them when you’re feeling demotivated or you’re desperately looking for reasons to stay home in the heat instead of going to the gym. You can make a list in a favorite notebook, on the tablet, or even in the notes on the phone. Add to them the benefits you imagine you will gain from your fitness routine. Here are a few examples:
When you see the change in a photo, in the numbers on the scale or tape measure, or when you button up your favorite jeans, you can’t help but be satisfied with your effort and the time you invested in your health.
Therefore, it can motivate you to continue training. Track your results by taking pictures of yourself regularly and recording the measurements of different parts of your body – hips, waist, biceps, etc. You can do it manually or use an app for the purpose. It is important to always photograph yourself at the same time of day, in identical body positions and preferably in underwear or sportswear.
It’s often the case that we don’t notice the change because we look in the mirror every day, but when we have it on record, it can be easier to track progress. And let’s not forget to thank each other, because the merits are entirely ours! 🙂
Use the calendar on your phone to make a special calendar to mark each gym visit. It has been scientifically proven that it takes between 30 and 100 days for an action to become a habit, and of course, this period is different for each person.
Putting exercise into our schedule makes it part of the day and part of the tasks you have to complete. And you will be able to experience the pleasure of a job well done by adding a tick to the calendar after each workout.
Working with a personal trainer will not only make you feel more responsible for your new activity, but it will also make training in the gym easier overall.
You will learn faster how to handle the different devices and how to perform the exercises correctly, which on the other hand will lead to faster results. You will be able to benefit from professional advice on healthy eating. Do you remember the rule that a beautiful body is sculpted in the kitchen?
In all 12 clubs of the chain, we work with highly qualified personal trainers, with whom you can meet on the spot and discuss your goals, schedule, and desired results. Whichever of them you choose, we guarantee that your training will be many times more beneficial.
Sharing your new activity with friends or family members will strengthen your sense of responsibility toward training and regular performance.
And why don’t you take a friend to the hall with you? This way you will be able to monitor your progress together and motivate each other when you lack desire and energy.
